3. Bowhunter Ed
I have not taken my Bowhunters certification class. Can I still apply and what do I do with it when I get it?
Yes, you can apply for any hunts you wish and you can be selected for a hunt. However, when you attend the orientation meeting you must provide proof that you have taken the class. If you can’t provide that proof you will not be allowed to hunt. Try and take the class as early as possible. As of 2014, the requirement has changed so that it now only requires passing the online written class – no field day is required any longer. In lieu of the field day, MBRB does encourage you to continue gaining as much mastery of real-life hunting knowledge as possible, such as participating in 3D shoots, watching videos showing shot placement and deer recovery, etc.
Once you have your certificate you can email us a scan or picture of it to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail it to us and we will get your status updated.
MBRB requires this class but does not offer it to members. The class is offered through the Minnesota DNR. As of 2014, the requirement has changed so that it now only requires passing the online written class – no field day is required any longer. DO NOT GET THIS CONFUSED WITH THE MANDATORY YEARLY PROFICIENCY TEST REQUIREMENT OF MBRB. THE PROFICIENCY TEST IS TO TEST YOUR SHOOTING SKILLS AND DETERMINES WHICH HUNTS YOU CAN APPLY FOR.
Once you have successfully completed the MN bowhunter education course and received your certificate you will need to provide it to MBRB. This can be done in any one of these three methods:
1) Forward a pdf copy of it to us by using the file upload in the Contact Us page.
2) Mail it to us at the address found on the Contact Us page
3) Bring it with to your hunt orientation and present it to you hunt coordinator.
The preferred method though would be option 1, email a pdf copy to us.
Your certificate is not needed until your orientation. Also, it is not needed in order to apply for hunts.
